If I were you I would search hotels like asap in the Wilmington port area call just about all of them and find out prices then call back to the cheapest one and make your reservation now before it gets too expensive or before the hotels get sold out.
there are some great hotels in the area. i would check out the Ramada Inn Conference Center which is $100 for friday and saturday and $90 for sunday on memorial day weekend. you can also check out the Towneplace Suites By Marriott Wilmington is $139/night for memorial day weekend. and for a great deal check out http://www.travelcusehotels.com. the site is an aggregator which means it searchs other sites and presents you with the best deals available. hope this helps!
